Quick Facts
  • At one time this was the Illinois Central Railroad's Central Station. It was constructed to handle tourist traffic during the 1892 World's Fair. Most of the building was demolished in 1972 when Amtrak relocated its services to Union Station, but the central wooden core of the station remained and became Metra's Roosevelt Road Station until it was torn down in 2009.
