There are two comments.
My uncle was stationed there in the 60's. When I was a kid, he would take me there and I could spend the night in the bunkhouse. Next day they would take me to the back door and I could get in to see a game. Very very cool. I even got to ride in a fire engine a few times. I was very disappointed because they were all false alarms. Bet you can't do that today!

I am 56 yrs old today, June 15th. When I was 22 yrs old I took a bus trip, actually 5 buses from Iowa City and was, due to some odd circumstances was left at Wrigley after the game and all I had was $2.35. I thought, who could help me, I saw fire station #78 and told them my plight. The men of Firestation 78 fed me, took up a collection for a bus ride to the Grey Hound bus depot in Chicago. They let me use their phone to call my family in Iowa City to wire a one way bus ticket home. IF it weren't for the men of station 78, 34yrs ago, I'd still probably be in chicago.
