Your Thoughts

There is one comment.

The present structure is a 1978 replacement for the original 1931 bandshell, which was in a less convenient location toward the south end of Grant Park.. Although now somewhat overshadowed by the newer and more architecturally striking Jay Pritzker Pavillion (2004), the Petrillo Music Shell has been retained as an alternative venue for larger events. In theory the structure is tempoary and capable of being dismantled, a pretense designed to tiptoe around the Lakefront Ordinance (1919), which restricts permanant construction in Grant Park.
