The Burnham CenterFormerly: | Conway Building | A classic Chicago-style skyscraper in a very visible location. The Burnham Center shows the evolution of the genre by incorporating all of its traditional elements, while also delivering the impression of being a modern building. Light is very important in the design, with the structure's rounded corners allowing a few more windows access to the sun. Access is also provided through the central light well -- a feature that was soon to disappear from American architectural sensibilities. This is not surprising, considering the fact that this was Daniel Burnham's last building. Quick Facts
