  • July 1, 2008: The Merchandise Mart loses its ZIP Code exclusivity. From 1963 to 2008 only the Merchandise Mart and its neighboring Apparel Mart had the 60654 ZIP Code. In 2008 that code was expanded to incorporate all areas of 60610 south of West Chicago Avenue.
