  The cellblock windows are 5" wide, the maximum allowed without bars. The building is triangular so that all the perimeter cells can be observed from the center. Only one escape has ever been made--prisoners smashed out the concrete around a window during a thunderstorm. The building has been repainted a slightly darker color than the original, sending some preservationists into a tizzy.
